Finally got out of my room tonight after two straight nights of nothing (1 because I forgot my phone was on silent). I went and played "billiards" (they refuse to call it pool) with Dalha (Pakistani) and ended up losing 5 games to 4. I then went to a different cafe in the middle of town with Abu and Firdavs to try baklava (the cafe has the reputation of having the best). Not sure 100% what it is made of except the inside is a nut mixture (pistachios they claimed) and oil. Tasted pretty good.
ba·kla·va/ˌbäkləˈvä/Noun: A dessert originating in the Middle East made of phyllo pastry filled with chopped nuts and soaked in honey.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are really good! Which camera are you using? PS - post MORE pictures!
That picture would be off google....they didnt tell me we were going to a different place and I do not exactly carry my camera everywhere.......
ReplyDeleteOhhh...I see.
ReplyDeleteHow do you not carry your camera everywhere while over there? Mine would never leave my hand! It must be a girl thing though
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be it is a purse thing...?
ReplyDeleteCameras fit in pockets. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who LOVES that dessert. I don't like nuts though. ICK.
What do you eat over there most of the time? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks? Anything you can't find and miss?
Barcelona doesn't have Mountain Dew ANYWHERE. It's devastating!! :)
You couldnt really taste/feel the nuts at all so you would prolly like it
ReplyDeleteAnd I eat whatever the cafeteria has and sometimes get snacks at the market. I found some things that are kind of like what is at home (cannot think of what it is called.....) Most of the stuff I cannot find is not necessarily a bad thing, I dont need that much junk food
One thing that does really suck, like your mountain dew, is that dr pepper does not exist over here. It is coke, pepsi, 7up and that is it 99% of the time. Funny thing I noticed though was coke is quite a bit cheaper than pepsi.
And I actually was talking to my friend from Egypt (the one I thought was American) and he randomly mentioned how he brought like two 12 packs of Dr Pepper with him because it is nowhere to be found
This was not specific enough for me. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteWhat does the cafeteria serve? For example, what was for breakfast? What's for lunch? What's for dinner? What's a typical snack? What do you drink other than water and tea?
I didn't see Dr. Pepper anywhere in Barcelona either. They had Coke everywhere and sprite some places but not much else.
While I was there I had a lot of great food but there was a lot of the same things everywhere. Jamon was like proscuitto. They'd have a pig leg out in the restaurant sometimes and just shave thin pieces off for you to eat. Yummy. And croquettes which were potato, ham, and cheese combo that were fried and looked like mozz sticks. Lots of fresh seafood too. That seemed to be the stuff that was EVERYWHERE.
Are you allowed to bring in cans of soda? Through the airport? I thought it may explode in checked baggage?!!
I do not know the name of any of the foods in the cafeteria as they do not exactly say, "Here is your ___". Fatih (Turkish friend) says that the majority of the food is Turkish, but does not really look or taste like it.
ReplyDeleteSnacks are whatever I want from the grocery store. I drink water 90% of time, tea at the cafes, and juice every now and then for extra flavor.
And he made it sound like he checked it, I thought the same thing though so maybe he found a way to do carry on, no clue.
